A Motivational Infographic

We all know and love the work of Dr. Seuss.  Before I even knew how to read, Dr. Seuss books were always my favorites.  I would memorize them, quote them, admire the unique illustrations.  As an adult, the value of these cherished books has only increased, so I was thrilled when I found the following infographic:

There are so many things I love about this infographic.  While the image is “busy,” I don’t think it is too overwhelming because it sticks to three or four main colors and the font remains consistent.  The choice of using different shades of reds and blues is very reflective of Dr. Seuss’s simple, yet eye catching, color schemes and style.  Most of all, though, I appreciate how this image is motivational.  The quotes included in the infographic are ones that readers and fans have appreciated for many years, and they never lose their value.  Personally, I could choose one of these quotes to keep in mind each day that would help me maintain a positive outlook. In fact, I think there could be special ways this infographic could be used in a School Media Center.

This image would be especially useful during the month of March.  Since March 2nd is Dr. Seuss’s birthday, many educators take advantage of Dr. Seuss themes in their classrooms during that month.  In the Media Center, this infographic could be displayed, and students could be asked to choose a quote especially meaningful to them.  The Librarian could then share the books from which each of these quotes were pulled and let the students explore them by working in groups or individually.  This would be a fun way to teach positive lessons, while also exposing students the the wonderful world of Dr. Seuss.  Another way this infographic could be incorporated into a library would be to have a “Quote of the Day” displayed near the entrance, the Check Out desk, or even the library’s website.  Since there are thirty quotes total, it would be simple to choose one quote for every day, and with the quote, the librarian could display or feature the book from which it came.  While not everyone would be interested, I know that children as well as adults can benefit from these books.  Dr. Seuss’s work has had an impact on my life as far back as I can remember, and featuring these quotes could be “life changing,” as the infographic’s title suggests, by inspiring future interest in reading and learning for all library patrons, especially those with children.  However, I do not doubt that the works by Dr. Seuss can be valuable to EVERY reader. After all, “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”
